Is that a great big dirty kebab wrapped in tin foil next to the strawberry cake?

No, that's actually my entry! Banana and cranberry loaf. But tricky to transport anything fancy in a backpack on the motorbike. If I'd been stopped I'd have looked like I was couriering two kilos of heroin/cocaine!

Winner was cake H. Lemon sponge with frangipani/almonds and raspberry jam. Truly awesome. Silver medal was cake C. Victoria sponge with a touch of vanilla and lashings of cream and fresh strawberries. Third was the carrot cake, cake G.

It was a bit of a team building thing. Judged by three of the SMT who gave marks for taste, texture and appearance. All tasting done without knowing who'd made what. Scores totalled and winner declared. By the end of the day, we were all a bit "cake pissed"!

I'm jealous of your Japan trip. It's still on my list at some point in the future.

It's a very do-able 2 week holiday, and the exchange rate is much better now... Do it!

Like the idea of a bake off, will have to suggest it although given that my current department consists of 3 hairy-arsed detectives and a female DC I think the haul might be limited.
