There's nothing better a car enthusiast likes to do than sit about thinking that if they had won the lottery what car they would put in their garage? The 4 berth garage with marble flooring, of course, leading to that gravel driveway in front of that massive mock tudor 8 bedroom new build house that just screams I AM NOT NEW MONEY.

Now on here we probably play the same game but with cooking. On my wish list to go in my granite work topped kitchen.

An orange juicer that does 3000 oranges per hour
One of those things that rolls hot dogs around to keep them warm.
This ... http://www.nisbets.co.uk/4/Catering-Appliances-Ser...

And of course

A Mr Whippy machine.

Sadly I have not won the lottery yet, and so have not bought any of them to go in my palatial home with a cinema room and gym above the 4 berth garage. No, but I do have a new ice cream maker.

A bit like perusing Autotrader I sometimes go onto Nisbets. It's like Amazon but for people who want to be fat. It's how I got my 6 litre Parry's deep fat fryer. Really good buy. When it arrived my wife said

Wife:- "What's that?"
Me:- "It's a ..."
Wife:- " Well its a waste of money and it cannot stay in the kitchen"

Never looked back, you cannot beat capacity when deep frying food. It's in the shed.

So I got the Buffalo icecream maker from Nisbets this week ! What a machine. It's silver. So when it arrived my wife said

Wife:- "What's that?"
Me:- "It's a ..."
Wife:- " Well its a waste of money and it cannot stay in the kitchen"

So it's in the shed too, here's a picture of my new mistress.

If there are any health inspectors watching we had a tornado hit Sevenoaks early this morning which created a lot of dust and dead snails and discarded peanuts.

There's no instructions with it of course. I've never made icecream before, so earlier this week I just poured cream and milk and summer fruit sauce in and prayed to the God of Icecream making ... Mighty Thaw ! . Yes, I could not resist that pun. It's a bit Flaky. Cone but not forgotten. Was that a rasberry ripple of applause I heard at the back?

And it turned out like sorbet. Or frozen yoghurt as my daughter called it. Yeah thanks.

Tonight I have bought some custard and double cream and hope to produce something more like Devon or Cornish ice cream. When I scoop that nectar into my cones, add the flake and the hundreds and thousands (which could be errant slug pellets from the shed if they are all blue whistle ) and my wife comes over asking for one, then I will say, in a Duke Nukem voice

"Go take a hike to Ben And Jerry's, baby"

Anyone got any tips to make her even more jealous? What's the "cooking" time in the beast for instance? When do I know it is ready? The last time was mainly down to luck I think.

I make ice cream all the time. Mix 120g sugar with 120ml milk until disolved. Add 300ml double cream and any flavour you want and pour the whole lot into the machine (make sure you switch it on before adding the mixture and not after). Should be done in around 20 mins.

You git! I'm now sitting here drooling over Japanese knife sets when I really should be going to bed!

In the meantime, I would heartily recommend Salted Caramel ice cream and Lemon & Rosemary sorbet

Both will make you question why you ever bought ice cream from a shop!

Err.... You can leave it there as long as you like, but it doesn't seem to load.
