Anyone tried it? Original US recipe with sugar cane syrup now availae over here. I thought it was too thick and sweet but it did taste like liquid cola bottle sweets

Yeah I bought a 12 pack of it a few months back now, like you found it rather syrupy. Something like 49g of sugar per can..

How I wish Coke would do this.
Apart from the stuff made in Mexico it's all made with high fructose corn syrup - which isn't as good.

I'd like to try that. Will have to see if they do it in the local supermarkets.

Yeah sorry - it's not all made with HFCS but the Mexican stuff is the only one made with cane sugar (although the Australian stuff is also rumoured to be). The rest is made with either HTFC or beet sugar - or so I am led to believe

I'm sure that I read that sucrose is sucrose and it matters not whether it's made from cane or beet.

All I know is that the Coke in Mexico is lovely - somehow reminds me if the stuff I used to drink as a kid. Could be purely in my head mind.

I'm sure the resulting product from cane and beet is the same. But you don't get 'pure beet syrup' - and I'd much sooner chew cane than beet ( I have tried both - cane was a real treat, beet was like a disgusting sweet turnip yuck)
