Jaffa Cakes affecting others in the tin?

Rather oddly after purchasing some biscuits yesterday, I have found that within 12 hours the Maryland cookies I placed in the tin have gone properly soft. They are only in there with 2 packs of jaffa cakes, all the biscuits went in together from sealed packets into an empty biscuit tin.
Is there something about the base of a jaffa cake that can do this as it appears to me the bases of the jaffas have absorbed something around the egde, and now the cookies feel like they have been left out for a week.
As has already been said, I admire your restraint on the Jaffa cakes for them to remain after 12 hours, ditto the Maryland cookies. A pack is a serving. Is there something about the base of a jaffa cake that can do this as it appears to me the bases of the jaffas have absorbed something around the egde, and now the cookies feel like they have been left out for a week.
Both should have health warnings.
Add in a tube of Pringles and I could quite comfortably call that starter, main and dessert.
