Eh?

It's sterilised -- but anyone older than 40 or so will remember when sterilised milk always came in bottles. Condensed milk, on t'other hand, came (and still comes) in cans.

Awful stuff. As kids we were brought up on it, because it lasted longer than pasteurised milk.

In those days only the posh had fridges.

Definatley YES.
Love it ice cold on cereals,It reminds me of my grandparents when I was a kid.
Used to drink loads of it when I was an AA patrol. The only down side was the proper bottle top, which meant you had to carry a bottle opener round with you, which could have looked slightly suspicious.
I going out to buy some now!!!!!!

I love sterra, has it's own unique taste, which I know isn't to everyone's taste, my brother hates it...biggrin

Plus it doesn't go sour like "proper" milk...

To widen the discussion..how about "powdered milk, such as Marvel?

When I was growing up we had a lot of sterilised cream, it came in tins and kept forever. It was also very cheap; much cheaper than fresh cream. Tinned fruit cocktail and sterilised cream FTW boxedin

As someone else said it has a unique taste. I loved it smile In fact this thread has persuaded me to look for it in the supermarket. I wonder if it's still available.

Worth mentioning that sterilised milk is different from UHT milk. I can't stand UHT milk.

I don't mind Coffee-Mate in coffee. Anyone remember that filth called Five Pints?

Never liked powdered milk made up, but when I was a kid I would snag the odd cheeky spoonful of the powder. Sticks to the roof of your mouth!

Used to have coffee mate when I was a student in the halls of resisence, to avoid going to the fridge. That stuff is filth, it's basically glucose and vegetable oil!

Burns well, though. I once burnt my eyebrows off demonstrating that, while a little tired and emotional.

No, cloud9 I loved sterilised cream. On fruit cocktail or tinned cling peaches it was a real treat.

Put the can in the fridge for an hour or so before serving and the cream (that's even if it was actual 'cream') was nice and thick. Yummo.
