Blackberrying

The blackberries are starting to ripen and all along the verges and hedges, they look so tempting.

Aside from the usual Blackberry and Apple crumble, what else can you do with them? Can't be arsed doing jam.

We had our first free blackberrys last week and did a blackberry and rhubarb crumble.

My mother used to cook them down with some sugar and then we'd add them to bowls of yoghurt, absolutely delicious.

Eat a few, and leave the rest for wildlife, who don't have the option of going to Waitrose.

Sadly the new-found popularity of 'foraging' means this hardly ever happens.

Huh, didn't realise picking blackberries was a new thing.

The wildlife eats all the berries the people can't get to, plenty for everyone!

Haha, not sure if serious? I like to think I do my bit for the local birds, the little feathery fkers get my raspberries every year before I do... also not sure it's a new thing I remember going picking from the road with my nan when I was a kid, but who knows maybe she started it all and everyone else is copying her

bugger off! I will fill my freezer, plenty of fruit on the trees that never get eaten and just drop and rot! all because the Waitrose shopper keep buying bird feeders

I used to go on horseback picking berries as a lad, the horse used to stick his snout in the grass as we picked the best stuff from the top out of the saddle.

Very nouveau.
