Can I use 3 day old mash to top a fish pie?
Discussion
OK....you can tell i'm not an expert
Gf cooked mash on Tuesday (LOADS) to go with our meatballs....lots left over so its been in the fridge.
Today I want to follow a simple fish pie recipe (unless anyone has a good one) and use the mash from the fridge to top it....any issues with that?
Would they be less yummy after 3 nights in the cold?
Should they normally be less "cooked" if you are then baking them on the pie for 30 mins??? I mean, is the fact they are already good to eat (but cold) going to ruin them for this purpose?
T (with not a clue)

I would have no problem using it. I had had 3 day old (an older) mash before and the only issue was achieving uniform reheating in the microwave. On a pie, in the oven, that wouldn't be a concern.
You can add a bit of cream to the mash and mix it in well to get a softer consistency for spreading as mash does tend to dry out and stiffen up with age.
