Saute / frying pans

Someone recently swore by a particular pan for home use? At work we use Bourgeat black iron or ali-nonstick pans but for home SWMBO wants something "nicer" on the shelf.

Any suggestions?

I like the coating on Kuhn Rikons. Seems robust.

Stellar are decent. Found the non stick le Creusets to fail if overheated.

Don't go ceramic. For the same reason.

Bourgeat copper are "nicer". Scanpan are cheaper.

SKK saute is the most versatile pan I have. Not a looker per se. Can't you get some pans for show to appease swmbo and keep using the stuff that works?

Run cookware, got a frying pan and a wok and they're brilliant, not managed to even mark the non stick coating in 2 or 3 years use.

We 20cm and a 30cm Circulon, after two years the surfaces went.

Spoke to Circulon about their "life time guarantee". There CS lady was snippy, defensive unhelpful and accusatory. Rather than spend a small fortune sending them back for them to tell me that "they had found no manufacturing defect", I binned them.

As indeed are Le C with their non-sticks, I found out recently.

Trouble is, whilst I had overheated the non-stick, I wasn't bringing it back for that, I was bringing it back because the ruddy handle was falling off!

...at which point they were very gracious and gave me a new one

Mine must be about two years old now and still as good as new. Very pleased with it - expecting many more years service from it.
As you say though, you only find out how good the CS is if the product fails.

They're not lady friendly at all but they are amazing. I won't let the mrs touch it anyways as it'll inevitably get dropped / washed with some industrial detergent and ruined.

For my mind, and recent purchase experience - the Ceracraft range from online tat vendor JML are surprisingly good. Other than that, I would recommend a professional brand like Vogue.

I've always sworn by Le Creuset, but my brother lives near a Homesense, who had a set of Kuhn Rikons in for very cheap recently, so we went for those. Absolutely brilliant, although one complaint would be the handles are so long they don't fit in the oven/under the grill as advertised (despite range cooker, natch).

I have tried these, the "ceramic" doesn't last long. Waste of money in my opinion

I was given I believe the largest casserole dish Le Creuset do as even half filled the lady struggled to lift it.

I have a set of Circulon saucepans and an extra large deep frying pan which is now a few years old and I wouldn't swap it for anything, great bit of kit.

I also have a set of Fissler S/S and I can't stand them, hardly used that I shall soon be selling.
