Cooked a great curry last Sunday plagerised from a recipe on Sunday Brunch of the previous week. Supposed to be an Indian pineapple curry but this time I used chicken. I'm very proud of it as it tastes great and I had to buy and mix a load of different spices and herbs to get the correct base sauce. It also contains some coconut milk.

Very spicy and really enjoyed it.

Had loads left so I let it cool and then stuck it in a tupperware container and popped it in the fridge. Unfortunately I have been too busy to eat at home so would it be OK to have tonight or too much of a risk?

Ta.

What's the worst that could happen?

Apart from being turned inside out, that is.

Mine are fine left on the stove top for 5 days, so having been in the fridge for that long there'll be no problem.

Don't they cook it fresh? Judging by the (often) long delivery times...

I know a number of curry lovers who cook, freeze and then eat it. My Mum, who learnt her recipes in India, was convinced that the taste was enhanced after freezing. As for leaving in the fridge when I was at uni one group of students sharing a house would cook a massive curry on a Sunday and leave it on the hob and feed from it for most of the week. They are all still alive!

Could be. Then again, that could be thawing out time...

I find freezing often mucks up the texture, thick rich sauces separate out into a thin runny watery part around the edge for instance. Fridge maturing brings out a better flavour in spicy foods. Five days is fine.

well you shouldn't eat that if it has been five days now. Why don't you cook again and cook a portion only for one day, two tops

I did in the end. I actually so enjoyed making the chicken one that I made the same base sauce with all the spices that I bought to make the original and added a few bits from the fridge like some bacon, chorizo and some mushrooms.

Tonight I'll cook up whats left and add a few more bits.

i was told once by a curry chef from a very posh curry restaurant that if you simmer out all the water from the sauce then it will last for this length of time refrigerated no problem. If you don't then you're looking more like 2 days.

5 days. Wimps. Regularly eat a take away over the course of a week or more. It tastes better after 3 or 4 days. A fact proven by the radio 4 programme on just such a thing.

If the OP has survived for seven years, then it was probably OK.
