There's just the two of us for Christmas this year so I'd like to make it special. Any ideas for breakfast (in bed) for my O/H, I'd like to prepare something a bit different for her.

Because I make the greatest scrambled egg on the planet (according to my Roux-trained other half) we always have the yoghurt thing as above then scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and a fizzy bubbly affair. This year we will eat in the kitchen whilst discussing who does what prep for the feast later....

A smashed pasty, perhaps? Traditional Christmas fare for the ladies round here.

hehe

Gordon Ramsey's eggs benedict on toasted muffins with crisped pancetta looks amazing. I couldn't be arsed to cook it on Christmas morning but I'll give it a go some time.

Proper Welsh Rarebit made with quality sourdough topped with a poached burford brown egg and crispy bacon/pancetta, a glass of bucks fizz made with fresh clementine juice and some proper espresso.

We normally go with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a bottle of Champagne and then steak with a bloody mary on boxing day. This year I'm really tempted to do Kedgeree on boxing day or I've got some really nice tinned sardines I could do on thick sour dough toast with roasted cherry tomatoes and capers.

As I know I've got a long day of eating ahead of me, my Christmas day breakfast is usually fairly light; a couple of slices of panettone and a glass or two of something sparkling is enough for me.

If I wasn't having a big lunch later, I'd probably go for scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and dry cured, smoked streaky bacon, some nice coffee and toast.

Brioche and duck egg is a nice treat.

Slice the brioche and then cut a hole in the middle of the slice with a pastry cutter. Melt some butter in an oven-proof frying pan, pop the brioche in and then break a duck egg into the middle. Pile some grated Gruyere on top, a bit more butter in the pan and then pop it in the oven for 5 mins or so.

Drizzle some truffle oil over the top and serve. Delicious.

We have a Boulders Breakfast, which is a croissant, sliced through and warmed, then a smear of red pesto, filled with bacon and scrambled eggs.

Yum.

Smoked salmon (the good stuff, not the supermarket stuff), scrambled eggs and Champagne is the tradition in our house. My OH is usually pissed by 10!

Christmas is the only time of year I allow myself Pork Pie, so I might get stuck into that as well. With English mustard, of course.
