Hi

Ive spent New Year with the same group of people since before I can remember

The routine is that somebody talented puts on a big spread on NY Eve and my contribution is something 'nice' but less elaborate and formal the night after

I usually alternate beef on the bone with all the trimmings with something different year on year
This year Im due a non-beef feast, most recently its been game so Im keen to skip that

What I fancy is a slow roasted shoulder of pork
This ticks all the boxes of being unusual (for my mates at least) and damned easy to cook whilst I pretend to slave away in the kitchen for hours whilst drinking the cooking wine smile

My problem is that "pulled pork" is now fashionable and every hit I get via search engines is for a derivative of a pork sandwich served with homemade coleslaw - which is fine but I want something different

The only recipe Ive found which appeals so far is stuffed with figs, this sounds pretty good but just in case I cant find any figs at the shops Id like to have a backup

Any ideas please?
It doesnt have to be pork, just tasty, be able to feed a crowd, a little unusual and with sensible preparation (although Im not afraid of much in the kitchen) and clearing up

Cheers!

Pulled lamb vindaloo

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/sunday-brunch/a...

Or madras

Either would be ace with naan bread/rice/chips...

I've cooked both and enjoyed the madras most. The kitchen smells amazing while they cook :-)

Burritos? Large pile of seasoned pulled pork on the table with beans, rice, sauces and everyone builds their own. Just depends how informal you are looking for. Easily scalable for larger groups and nothing complex once the guests arrive.
