Any thoughts on frying pans / skillets chaps? I cook on gas so want something with a proper heavy bottom that can also go straight into the oven if needed. Looked at the range in John Lewis last week and a lot of them seemed flimsy as well as ludicrously expensive. Any advice on where to get the type of robust, heavy duty skillets proper chefs use rather than paying 60 quid for branded rubbish?

Just invested in a creuset frying pan, cost £68 IIRC as they were on sale. Brilliant piece of kit, does everything.

Bourgeat elite pro here and it's v good. Good nonstick solid and all metal/ good to use in oven. The standard non stick bourgeat pans are also good on gas but do warp.

If you want non stick, as above Bourgeat. If not, look at De Buyer iron pans.

Stockists nisbets, next day catering etc. Even Amazon.

I bought a Pro cook non stick frying pan a couple of months ago to replace my elderly Tefals. I'm really pleased with it, the shape is great http://www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-professio...

Should also have said, I've got a collection of old proper cast iron frying pans that I've bought at car boot sales over the last few years....they go on the BBQ, the Oz Pig and anything else that requires lots of heat and fire smile
