No.6 in a range of mildly provocative sexist posts brought to you by Pistonheads during their Summer season of sexismwink

I believe Ms Carthage can do a bit as she regularly features in the Cooking/dining forum, but she doesn't live anywhere near and probably wouldn't entertain me regardless of that.

Anyhow (and as I'm cooking for a lady tonight) I got to thinking, it's been circa 12yrs since I dated a woman who can cook a decent meal, in order to eat well one has to either DIY or go out, what about you?

Standard, in my experience they are all pretty useless in this regard. Angela Hartnett being the exception. I enjoy cooking so don't let it bother me

i've never dated a woman who can cook well. most of my male friends are better cooks than there OH's, there are exceptions to this.

however all the women i've dated have been top drawer at baking which is a skill i've never mastered, so swings and roundabouts.

God no!

But god loves a trier, she made me a lasagne once. It was just missing one ingredient, the pasta!

The wife is a good cook but she is quite happy for me to cook as well (I do mean apple crumble by all accounts).

The last women that cooked for me left the gas on(no flame)when we went to bed.

So no.

Looks like I'm the odd one out, my OH is a fantastic cook and makes probably 95% of the meals we eat.

I don't think I'm too bad but I'm nowhere near her level - I usually need a recipe whereas she can somehow invent things from scratch like its a masterchef challenge with unseen ingredients and somehow it turns out brilliantly.

She's terrible. hehe

Mine can actually ruin a microwave meal, don't ask me how because I don't know.

Her sandwiches are unbelievably st. only butters the middle of the bread and puts the tiniest amount of filling possible. Either I do the cooking or we go out/takeaway.

My wife can cook well but rarely does.

She's a recipe follower....rather than someone who reads a number of recipes for the same thing and works out the underlying principles. This can result in a perfect meal or a disaster quite easily depending on how much attention is paid to following the recipe precisely.

Stuff she's cooked time and again she does extremely well.

I'm very fortunate, mine loves cooking and is good at it too smile She does most of the cooking in the house, so much so, if I'm cooking she takes over and tells me I'm not doing it correctly! All I need to do is keep her company and topped up with wine.

My OH makes cheese on toast, and can put things in an oven to cook for an appropriate amount of time, but states that he can't follow recipes as he gets worried about forgetting something, or leaving something to cook too long while chopping ingredients up etc etc

I'm not a great cook by any standard but it's more lack of practice. I'd happily eat spaghetti bolognese every night of the week, so before we started dating I had a very limited set of recipes to work from. Nowadays I've managed to expand that, and continue to actively search for new recipes that I can test and learn to make, just so I'm not cooking the same old thing when he stays round.

She is pretty good, but she thinks/says that I'm better - but I think that is just a ploy to get me to do all the cooking as she can't be arsed. hehe

We both cook well and each have our own repertoire so between the pair of us we keep it very interesting. All fresh too - nothing processed at all.
