Japanese sweets in the uk?

My daughter is after some japanese sweets - anyone suggest a source or sensibly priced shipping option?

I'm intrigued...off to google these! Are there particular types you have in mind?

Go to china town or an asian supermarket. They have pretz, pocky and loads more.

Be careful, most Pocky in 'Oriental' supermarkets are Thai - just as tasty though, but also the same as Mikado from the supermarket (rebranded pocky).

If you're in London then there's Japan Centre, but they're not cheap. If you're in London, or Brighton, then there's Cyber Candy, again not cheap. Both do online as well.

From Japan you can subscribe to random boxes from Oyatsu Bos - I've had 3 boxes so far from them (missed the May box due to my credit card being rejected) - they're connected to Oyatsu Cafe, where you can order direct - takes about 2 weeks though.

R1FlyGuy - I'm not sure if she has a specific thing in mind - shes interested in manga and japanese stuff generally so I guess its a follow on from that - If that's an offer to bring some back then that would be much appreciated. If I said I'd take any random sweets to a value of £20 I've no idea about this sort of thing but I assume there is a variety between pence/item up to £/item. But very aware of space/luggage issues.

Are you in any hurry for the sweets?

I can pop into the hotel lobby shop and see what they have and just pick up a couple of items for you to try, as check out in a hour but I'm back here in a couple of weeks

Our Birmingham store recently closed down

I'd recommend something like Hi-Chu. Come in an assortment of flavours (some more whacky than others). Similar texture to Hubba Bubba bubblegum, but you can eat it.

Pick up some matcha pocky for her - if she's in to manga it'll be a sweet she's used to - a case of life following art as far as popularity is concerned(*) - perhaps I ought to send you my details in case you can find any of the wasabi version as well

• )pocky is nothing exciting - except some of the special flavours. It became the manga artist's snack of choice as it is easy to draw, net result kids started buying it to emulate their favourite characters and so it became popular

I have a four year old whom I love to buy toys for over here as the selection is more varied than UK stockists sometimes, so I enjoy the smiles it brings, you just can't get better than a happy child
