The Dores Inn is always excellent, but usually very busy so booking may be an idea!

It's to the north of Inverness by a few minutes but Allangrange arms in Munlochy on the Black Isle - food was simply lovely when we went. Just advise her to check the toilet door before locking it, I got stuck and they had to take the lock off once they heard me attacking the door! Food's well worth it though.

We were on a driving holiday in the highlands so covered lots of ground - so if you're ever across from Inverness the whistle stop cafe in Kinlochewe serves really excellent food.

Fort William (and area) recommendations:

The Laroch in Ballachulish - under new ownership and not long re-opened. Excellent menu, busy, need to book.
Ben Nevis Inn at Achintee - basically eat in what was a big old barn. Good food.
Crannog is not as good as it used to be (prices seem to have crept up and portions a bit smaller than they once were) but it's probably still the best mainly fish place in town.
Spice Tandoori in Fort William for Indian.

i had the worst curry i've ever had in fort william. Chef's special including raw lamb and weirdly, olives. So yea avoid there. Can't remember what it's called though so stay lucky.
