I've got a nice big chunky venison steak in the freezer and I was thinking of making stew in the slow cooker. Just wondering if anyone has any recipes or suggestions?

Thanks

Do you know where about on the animal it's from?

If it's the equivalent of a beef fillet or sirloin, slow cooking it would, IMO, ruin it.

If it's shoulder or leg, then stew is probably going to be ok smile

Venison steak on its own will be as dry as fook.

However you could add some fatty bacon and sausage to it, plus some mushrooms and sour cream in the sauce to make a Polish-style hunter's stew.

It's a bit of haunch apparently.
