My rather puny grapevine has produced me a small bowlful of very small blue/black grapes with big pips that are a bit too sour to eat happily.

But I do like sloe gin. Could I apply the same principle and make half a bottle of grape gin, or would it be horrible?

Thanks for any ideas; as the vine spent all year making them it seems a shame to throw them away.

A non-boozy alternative could be grape jam/jelly? It works for oranges that are too bitter to be palatable.

Hmm, well I can just about pour gin over things but jam/jelly is out of my league - and there is only one small bowl of fruit. Lots of pips for pectin though!

Crystalising looks pretty easy compared to jam-making; may be worth a try?

Interesting - can you recommend any links?

Bear in mind the grapes are about 8mm diameter of which 3mm is pip!

Should have had a wisteria...

There's quite a few on youtube, this ehow seems like one of the better sets of instructions thrown up by google, but there seem to be many variations on the theme.

I made grape jelly with ours. Very easy and surprisingly tasty.

Thanks Mr Elephants, but they went in the gin with some sugar last night. We'll see what happens!
