Speaking as no more than a very satisfied customer, for more years than I like to consider , I have been a member of the Wine society.

Yes, you have to pay to join, but if you like your wine, they are unsurpassed. They always do some high qulaity presentation/gift products for the season.

I've never had a bad bottle from Laithwaites.
As a semi-frequent purchaser I get showered with 'money off' vouchers, almost to the level that I am loathed to order anything at the 'normal' price.
They also run a large number of the newspaper wine clubs, anything that says "Direct Wines" on the label is their group of companies.

Nothing wrong with Tesco wine, and they have some great offers sometimes
Tesco have OK wines, but the way they promote the category is shameful.Selling Hardys Cab-shiraz, for example, at £5 and claiming it's 'HALF PRICE' is a f
king joke... it's only a £5 bottle of wine to start with. Same as most of the other stuff they shove on gondola ends under a half price message.I stopped shopping in Tesco when I picked up what they were doing with wine... if they'll try to con you on one category, they're probably trying to con you everywhere else as well.
I've been disappointed with Laithwaites on the two occasions I tried them. The wines tasted cheap for the money. Maybe they are just not to my taste. I've had better results from Virgin Wines.
Based on recommendations above, I have just had a look at The Wine Society. Looks good! Will definitely give them a try.

Laithwaites are ho hum compared to The Wine Society, THE best wine supplier in the UK by a mile
And if we're talking no quibble, how about replacing a £200 bottle of Chateau Haut Brion that was corked at Christmas a few years ago without hesitation even though the faulty bottle was 80% empty (The 4 glasses of corked wine having already been poured)

Wine Society fan here as well. And if we're talking no quibble, how about replacing a £200 bottle of Chateau Haut Brion that was corked at Christmas a few years ago without hesitation even though the faulty bottle was 80% empty (The 4 glasses of corked wine having already been poured)
They gave me a refund on a bottle even though I didn't ask for one.
I had a mixed case and left a review on one bottle of Bordeaux that I didn't think was that great. It wasn't corked I just thought it was going to be better than it was.
They read my review them emailed me to say they had credited my account with the cost of the bottle.
