I am going to Shaftesbury theatre soon with the Mrs. Can anybody advise of a good restaurant in the local area? Ideally somewhere that does a good steak.

There's probably a gazillion better restaurants around but I enjoyed the food at Tredwells (Marcus Wareing place) in Upper St. Martin's Lane - I'm no foodie though and there are far more qualified people on here than I to suggest somewhere.

Depends on your budget I guess.

Clos Maggiore in King Street was also very very good when I had lunch there earlier this year.

Clos is a good call. I like J Sheekey as well or Savoy Grill.

It does depend on budget and taste though.

If you are after steak round that way, Hawksmoor Seven Dials or Sophies are your best bets.

Clos is fantastic but depends how soon you're going. Hard to get a booking although if you're staying over ask your concierge to book.

Won't find much steak in Sheekey's - it's bloody good though!

Delauney/Sophies/Hawksmoor/Big Easy/Rules/Balthazar/Brasserie Blanc/The Ivy/Cote/Clos etc etc

You've got a fair old pick!

I like the Opera Tavern personally, not steak, but they do some tremendous stuff. The Iberico Pork and Foie Gras burger is a thing of greatness. Although you do need 2.

MASH in Brewer Street for steak or Bocca do Lupo in Archer Street for great Italian.
