Afternoon, can anybody recommend a cracking curry house in Birmingham?

Me and the wife are staying centrally near the bullring between Christmas and new year and so a recommendation would be great

Many thanks in advance

Would also recommend Lasan, it's not really a curry house though!

I've had Asha's recommended for a more 'curry house' experience but not actually tried it

Having tried all of them many times Ashas is in my opinion the very best. Possibly the best I've ever had not just in Birmingham.

Do the tasting menu - they will make swaps if you don't like something (I'm not into seafood for example, they were happy to swap those courses).

If ever you are in Brum, grab a taxi out to the Moseley area and go here - http://www.kababish.co.uk/

Went last week and it was bloomin' superb.

I agree with this. Had it last time I went and wow! What a plate of food. Ordered a main as well, far too much food.

Asha's has a terrible website blinged by the celebrities that have eaten there. Had a look at the menu and got to the vindaloo and it started talking potatoes.... hmm

For me (and many others) Akbars is the one.

It's certainly not an intimate dining experience but the food is fantastic, service superb and general decor excellent.

I've been many times and its a 160 mile round trip that i consider worthwhile plus the car park attendant always moves the cones and parks me front and centre, makes me feel special.

If you don't mind eating in a pub then the food in the Merry Maid Bar and Grill on 263 Moseley Rd, Birmingham B12 0EA or one a little bit further out is the New Soho Tavern at 407 Park Rd, Birmingham B18 5SR I'd go to the Soho Tavern during the week days as it's not too big and on the weekends it gets very busy, my choice would be the Soho tavern as No1 and the Merry Maid as No2.

Go down to Sparbrook for a real experience and go to Adils the inventor of the Balti in the 70s. Dirt cheap and an experience to be had for anyone that likes curry
