I'm not sure quite how I should phrase what happened this afternoon, the best I can come up with is the most positive customer experiences I have ever had.

To set the tone: I am a cider loving Scotsman based in the highlands, this has led to a long time fight to find traditional cider anywhere near me or at a faintly reasonable price (read £20+ delivery charges)

So I decide to follow up on a lead from a mate who grew up around Somerset. Through this I found Wilkins Farm who provide large volume deliveries of high strength scrumpy and unpasteurised cheese at extremely good rates. This however is not the best bit .

The man who runs this excellent enterprise (Roger) is available until 8pm 6 days a week. He makes it clear that the website is run for him and he will only deal with people direct.

I phoned up and placed my order, everything seemed pretty simple, he took my delivery address and before I could start reading out my card details he said: 'Now you don't pay until you take delivery and make sure that everything is right with it. After which you can send me out a cheque or phone up for the bank details and pay in through that.'

I thanked him and now I'm eagerly anticipating my delivery of cider. I didn't imagine that in the current age of mistrust that you could find someone who will send out a product that they make, direct to you, without payment first.

There is already a long running thread for this kind of thing, but I had a similar experience with an engineering company in Brum, I rang him up and ordered some stuff, he just sent it and said pay me with BACS later. They're oldschool and don't even have a website.
I'm tempted to suggest sending you some of my cider, I've just brewed about 80 litres of the stuff at 8%.....

Ahh, I didn't think to do a search before posting. It's quite refreshing in this techy age that there's still folk being old school.

I'd happily take some off you hands (I would pay ) I'm not sure there's such a thing as having too much cider

Nice story there. Hope the cider is tasty.

When we first moved to France we had some work done to a car at the local garage.

When I collected the car I wanted to pay . The guy said I will send you the bill at the end of the month.

Couple of days later I realised we would be away for a month on holiday. So popped down to tell him and try and pay. His reply was not to worry and pay when I get back!

We get a fair bit of this trust system here in rural France. Works well.

The local garage gets a fair bit of work from me still.

Phoned up one morning for some bits for a Diana Model 16 (1934 childs gun); was told to send a cheque.
Expected the parts a week or so later when the cheque had cleared, got them in the post the next day.
Stunned.

I've found a few. My fruit and veg supplier will send more than I need "just in case" and then collect what isn't used next day. Same with a couple of local independent plumbing suppliers I use, one will just let you take one of everything you might need then go back then next day and pay for what you don't return. Not saying they do this for everyone but it's a known thing and it makes them very popular.

Also in the Lotus community there are quite a few parts suppliers who are known to send out something and people pay if its the right bit or send it back. Again, makes them very popular.
