Recommended Whiskey £40 on high street

Hi

Looking to get a nice bottle of Whiskey for Christmas night as my father and brother in law are over. Wanting to get something nicer than the usual Glenfiddich.

Any recommendations please?

Ardbeg 10yo is currently on offer in sainsburys for around £36 which represents fantastic value for money!

It's on offer at £25 so a bit below your £40 budget but I bought a bottle of Dalwhinnie Winters Gold in Morrisons yesterday. Only had a little snifter so far but it was quite nice. Regular Dalwhinnie is one of my favourites anyway but also like the smokey / peaty Islay malts.

Only just realised that they suggest serving this whiskey frozen (i.e. stick it in the freezer), bit controversial for a whiskey purist but I might just try it.

Penderyn single malt finished in maderia casks, 36 quid in Asda.

Worth checking what kind of whisky he likes. I am not a fan of those smokey ones.

If you do like a smoky whiskey then Laphroaig is like pure charcoal, lovely stuff! Failing that the maybe a tasting session with some of the flavoured whiskeys like Kim Beam's Redstag and JD Honey? They are only £15 a bottle.

Wasn't massively impressed with Welsh Whiskey last time I had it. Maybe they've upped their game somewhat since then though.

Thanks for the recommendations. Ive just purchased a bottle of Dalwhinnie Winters Gold from the Waitrose next to work for £26.16.

Looking forward to giving it a go with them
