What booze won't give me wind!?
Discussion
So I suffer from a non-as-unusual-as-you'd-think ailment which means I'm totally unable to burp - either voluntarily or involuntarily. I just can't do it, nada. I have memories of being able to do it as a kid, but I lost the ability to do it as a teenager. Weird.
Anyway, it brings me to my question, which is what kind of booze can I drink which doesn't have such a high density of gas / won't give me wind?
I love cider. But over 2 pints and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I can manage more if I'm drinking lager, so I'm guessing there's something about the chemicals in each which means cider gives you more wind than lager.
I've like red wine, but can't really have a glass of wine when the lads all buy a round of pints. I'd feel a bit of a tit.
As you can probably tell, I haven't tried much of a variety of different drinks. It was always just the standard cheap and nasty shots and lagers when I was growing up (27 now) and it's taken until now to realise that it was probably all the bubbles which gave me a reputaion of being a bit of a lightweight, since it'd give me gut ache long before I was actually 'drunk'.
Of course, there is no 'need' to drink at all, it would just be nice to have an option to get merry when I'm out with my mates rather than being conscious of my 3-pint 'limit'.

My OH is exactly the same, but she's not really a pint kinda lady! She's either on wine or gin/vodka and apple juice.
I'm afraid I don't think there's anything out there as satisfying and thirst quenching as a cold beer / cider.
When I'm trying to lay off the beer I like a huge G&T with lots of ice.. It's close, but I don't think it'll help you.

Try some proper cider, not pants like strongbow.
Its flat, no bubbles at all, stronger and slightly cloudy.
If its in a glass bottle its likely to have some fizz, so try picking up a box of old rosie or some such from a large supermarket, thats a good starting point!
