Crikey, just come across this Jeremy Clarkson of restaurant reviews. I would never normally read the Guardian newspaper or website, but her review just came up near the top of the searches for a restaurant who's phone number I was looking for.... That led me into her columns online. She's recently visited Rick Stein's in Poole, where I've been a number of times. She has valid points, wrapped up in very witty, sharp, almost 'Brass Eye' type not-sure-if-real provoking comments. Ha ! Sandbanks 'bloated McMansions squatting behind high, prole-repelling hedges'... magic, with a bitter socialist twist. fk her, I'm going back there just for the cuttlefish risotto that I'd not had yet. On the flip side, we may now give Frenchie a miss...

I used to like her reviews in Metro a lot. What I like even more is that she's totally anonymous, indeed a restaurateur stuck a large cash bounty on her head for a photo, so you get the real scoop, not like most of the others

Proper hatchet job on Tony Singh's new place, I can see why.

Impressively venomous; the problem is you can get away with that in Glasgow as so much of the restaurant scene is mediocre. The Herald reviewer thought the Alea was st too, although he was less rude about it.

Like it.
I never miss Giles Coren in The Times on Saturday. However, he does get a bit wearing with his frequent reminders of how posh he is and his refusal to review places any further away than Oxford unless it's a very special occasion and then he'll doubtless complain about it.
AA Gill remains the daddy.
