Hi

Got to spend a few days down in Whitechapel so thought I'd take the wife to Brick Lane for curry.
As I am from 'oop North and lived just outside Bradford, the standard needs to be good.

Can you please let me know your recommendations?

Richard

If you want something a bit different, try Veraswamy http://www.veeraswamy.com/ , Cinnamon Club http://cinnamonclub.com/ , or Gymkhana http://www.gymkhanalondon.com/

If you're from Bradford (I'm not but know it) you'll know Akbars.

There's nowhere to touch that near Brick Lane.

Have you been recently? Not the place it once was. I spend far too much company money on spicy gravy when in Bradford & Akbars is starting to disappoint.

Lahore and Tayyabs are the only ones worth going to if you want decent food. Take this from someone with almost a decade of trial and error behind him.

That's the only one my office goes to and raves about the starters, not so much the mains.

Lahore, because of the lamb chops. Tayyabs is good as well, but their chops comes short so most of the time I venture out there I go to Lahore

i'm from Glasgow which i would say must be one of the top cities in the UK to go for a curry.. and i'm forever disappointed by the horrendous meat and thin gravy nonsense that passes for a curry now that i've moved to London.

Tayyabs in Whitechapel was the closest i've ever come to enjoying a curry. Not as good as Glasgow, but the best i've had down here.

Yep mains are not good. Like the chicken tikka starter

Yup, hottest place in town at the moment is Hoppers though, should you want to journey in town a bit. Bone Marrow Roti? I'm in.

Another vote from me. I love Lahore, haven't been for ages so need to fix that.
