Hello,
My better half starts maternity leave soon and she's a Costa latte addict but won't be able to visit her favourite robbing barista - I've read some bad stuff on the new Costa Latte pods for the Tassimo, so have taken a look at the Nespresso range (thanks PH search) but I want to get this right, i think the pods will be better due to the incoming baby.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I found the Tassimo Costa pods to be nothing like the stuff sold in their shops.

Tassimo coffee isn't the worst thing in the world (nowhere near as good as Nespresso though), but their milk is horrible.

I've got a Delonghi Nespresso Lattissima Touch and it is very good:

£20 off plus £60 Nespresso Club Reward.

I've also got the separate Aerocinno which does the milk, which is also very good, so you might consider this (or similar):

In your position though, I'd go for the Lattissima ...

I'd definitely go for a machine that allows you to use fresh milk like the two nespressos suggested, the pods that use milk powder to make a drink just taste overly sweet and full of preservatives to me.

The Lattissima Touch is superb...Just remember to direct the milk nozzle before you press start and walk away. I didn't.

I am a nespresso fan but the MIL has a Lavazza pod machine which was cheaper than my nespresso yet still makes a decent coffee, worth a trip to John Lewis to see which takes your fancy.

I'm going to hijack this topic, which machine would be best for hot chocolate? The mrs brought up last night she wanted one, but neither of us drink coffee, only for visitors we would use the coffee.

Unfortunately the Nespresso don't do hot chocolate, But there is nothing to stop you using the Aerocchino to warm the milk and pop your own powdered chocolate in it. One word of caution though the milk IMO don't get hot enough for that.

When i worked at Wetherspoons in my UNI years the hot chocolate was made by using chocomel milkshake which was steamed on the coffee machine in the same way that the milk for a latte would be, it made a pretty decent hot chocolate, far better than any powder based ones I've tried.

"Apparantly", Dolce Gusto Hot Chocolate isn't bad, especially compared to the Tassimo version but ....

seems a waste of money to buy a Coffee Pod machine just for hot chocolate.

For Hot Chocolate we simply use a glass jug, a microwave and a cheap aerolatte whisk.

Bit of a bump - Lattissima Touch Amazon £179.00.

£100 cheaper than the Nespresso Store in Cribbs Causeway, and £20 cheaper than John Lewis.
