Recommend me a good restaurant in Newport, S Wales please!
Discussion
Hi, I am around in Newport Wednesday night with the Boss on a work thing and to avoid the Beefeater, where else can I go?
Don't mind what food - ideally local Welsh?
Prefer to avoid the obvious pizza/curry/Chinese etc as I can get that anywhere, unless exceptional!
And no, Celtic Manor is not on the menu - sorry!

Caerleon rather than 'da port, but https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g1... was pretty good although I've not been for a few years (used to live in Cardiff and work in Cwmbran - here used to be where I'd take people visiting me).
By way of feedback, we went to junction28 which was eagerly anticipated as a few locals we spoke to rated it highly!
Sadly the place was empty - 4 tables at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening.
Menu was good. As the firm was paying, I had the scallops & fillet steak
Scallops were sliced too thinly but were nice & the steak was cooked well - rare obviously!
They messed up with the boss' ribeye & brought him out a fillet but other than that, all was well!
Would go back!
