A 1.8kg Pork shoulder joint?

Currently in my freezer from being bought end of last year before I split from my ex, I did think to cook the whole joint but most would get wasted before it gets eaten so any help with what to do with it?

I have thought of sawing (with a clean saw)the joint in to 3 pieces, can I do this and for it to be ok?

Cook it all as Pulled pork, eat what you want, portion up the rest in meal size bags and refreeze.

Thaw each out and relive the eating pleasure. smile

No issues reheating as long as after the initial cooking you chill asap and when you reheat it is steaming hot.

Yes, was going to freeze as son as it was cold so looks like a nice 7-8 hours of slow cooking on the horizon! smile

I was going to suggest chile verde but it's the same principle.

Out of curiousity how do people cook pulled pork without a barbeque/smoker?

I've found that braising it in beer and stock vegetables before finishing it off in the barbeque sauce works best for me.

I would cook a goulash, the Jamie Oliver recipe with loads of peppers is tasty. Eat what you can and freeze the rest in smaller portions.

I use a big cast iron pot. A bottle or your favourite cider. Good dollop of honey, onion and a cooking Apple. Salt pepper and paprika rubbed into the meat. Cook with lid on for 7+ hours at 120.

Well, removed the joint from the freezer on Monday evening and left it to defrost in the fridge until yesterday, prepped and cooked in the oven for 4 hours and I must say it turned out very nice, so much so there isn't a lot that required freezing! laugh

Have been picking at the portion I have in the fridge and it tastes just as good cold lick
