I have always thought of Bovril as drinking gravy. I've very clear early ( one of my first ) memories of being in my parents kitchen on a freezing day having just come in from the snow warming my freezing hands on a cup of Bovril.
I'm a man of all churches though as I'm also a marmitian.

Careful! Your post will be moved to the Food and Drink section since you are clearly NOT trying to stimulate general jocular banter, but are in fact making a very serious foody point, unlike my Marmite thread which was specifically written as a bit of Lounge fun.
Hang a banger! I just looked in the Lounge for my Marmite thread only to discover that it has been banished to that very sub forum.
I feel a Vegemite post coming on, but carefully couched in the disguise of things that Annoy me beyond reason. Game on Moderators.

Bovril!!!
as a kids I remember after swimming we'd have a Bovril from the klix dispenser at the pool.
When I lived with a vegetarian I'd make a Bovril for me and a marmite for him at the same time.
I also love marmite/vegemite on toast.
God that evoked memories of doing the same thing. Brown plastic cup. Chlorine smell on the skin, slightly watery sore eyes with it too.as a kids I remember after swimming we'd have a Bovril from the klix dispenser at the pool.

Ahh such memories - yep me too - it was either that or a packet of cheese and onion crisps, anything to get rid of the taste of chlorine from the pool water.as a kid I remember after swimming we'd have a Bovril from the Klix dispenser at the pool.
I always use Bovril in gravy, less is often more so often just a half teaspoon full is enough. I always put a spoon full in bolognaise/chili dishes. (A teaspoon of Coleman's English Mustard is also a must whilst the beef and onions are frying.)
