If you have any favourite recipes where you rely on access to the BBC website food and drink section then be aware there is a wholesale revision of the BBC site proposed.

As part of a reduction in 'soft' news stories, all the thousands of stored recipes are to be binned apart from those directly associated with programmes currently or recently screened.

Might be worth printing any out while the chance remains. Personally there's only a handful or so but just a heads up for the rest. Guess a fair bit of Hairy Bikers stuff will go.

What a shame - the recipe database is a resource I use all the time.

I can understand why the BBC's wings need to be clipped and their remit reigned in. However, with the lack of teaching in schools - where are people supposed to go?

Many of recipe websites are not pitched at novices.

That's a shame as it's got some genuinely good content. There's a fantastic piccalilli recipe on there I keep going back to.

TBH so many of the recipes are duplicated on to the BBC Good Food magazine website (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/) I'm surprised they operated two separate recipe resources for so long.
