I really like fish, but cannot stand dissecting my dinner, so wondered if anyone could recommend some new fish I can try where it's almost certain to be bone free when filleted. Strange question I know!

Tuna
Swordfish
monk fish
Salmon
Cod and haddock if a loin cut

think it just depends... in a restaurant? of from a fish mongers, from the former, it should never have bones, if from a fish mongers, then the fish above are a good bet as they are taken out on portioning...

If you are buying whole, again the above is the best without going to exotic.

Rock Eel / Rock Salmon has a single solid piece of cartilage through the middle rather than bones, very tasty too!

AKA Dogfish, thrown back by most anglers as they are a pain to skin and doesn't look all that appealing when cooked. Does taste nice though!

I quite like Tilapia. A firm white fish. Tend to have to get it frozen though.

Fillet of Red Snapper is really nice if you can get it. Very meaty (not quite on as much a Monk Fish) great flavour and easy to cook.

By definition a filleted fish does not contain bones. So in theory you should not encounter any if that's what you ask for.

Find a good fishmonger, explain and they will be able to provide whatever you want. Just be prepared to pay a slight premium as trimming areas that contain bones that are impractical to remove will be treated as waste, ie. tail end of a haddock fillet.

Ask your fishmonger, and look at Hake. Very meaty.

Any fish that has been filleted by the fishmonger should be virtually bone free. Just stay away from whole fish

Whitebait and Anchovy smile

Bones, but so small you won't notice.
