Tried it out in Pacific Islands and its a strange one, its supposedly better than alcohol.

I brought 1/2 kg back to Sydney to inflict on friends.

What does anyone else think of it?

Read about it the other day, sound fascinating. Has the effect of relaxation, but without the lack of control that alcohol does. Apparently can give you severe liver problems, but clinical studies are so far limited.

Tried it in Fiji. Like drinking fine particles of suspended mud, gives your lips a numb feeling.
Beer is better.

It's banned in the UK isn't it?
Not sure... I know Im only allowed to take 2kg in Aus... I don't think its been properly classified in UK, but from my take on it I cant even say its as potent as weed. They are banning it there due to the indigenous population, they have a hard enough time with drink and drugs, so they wanted this stopped asap, but the pacific islanders are not happy as there is no evidence of liver damage (supposed at best) and its not addictive, plus part of their culture.

It gives you a numb tongue (antiseptic qualities), maybe I didnt have enough, but it was a village ritual I was at in Fiji, so I was happy mellow, but as I was on holiday I couldn't say if it was the Kava or not, plus they didnt give us too much.

In the United Kingdom it is a criminal offence to sell, supply or import any medicinal product containing kava for human consumption.[87] It is legal to possess kava for personal use, or to import it for purposes other than human consumption (e.g. for animals)."

I drank a load in fiji, tasted disgusting but it was strangely more likeable the more you drunk, it doesn't mess you up like drink or drugs but certainly makes you feel weird.
They had a word they used for the stronger version, something like village mix or tourist mix, I was asking for the strong one, they found it funny when I was slumping on the floor hehe
