In our old house we had an Aga, and all was good with roast spuds.

In our new house, we decided to get all modern and fitted 2 new slide & glides. Roast spuds no good. No crunchy bits, all just a bit boring really.

Anyone with the same ovens found the secret?

As previous poster.

Par boil, drain, put lid on pan and throw around a bit to make them floury on the outside. This massively increases the surface area for crisping.

Next, take hot rapeseed or sunflower oil and pour over them in the pan. Lid on, rotate again to ensure an even coating in oil.

Turn them out into baking tray and cook at 220C, turning every 20 mins.

Can you enable fan and bottom element together?

Your issue is too much indirect heat.

Ours are fine. Does yours have the hot air option?

The pizza setting at max temp works well as it uses the bottom heating element and fan.

So wrong.

Why would I want to eat potatoes in batter? I'm not bloody Scottish.
