I mean late as in you can get a table at 3am and restaurant as in sit down and order.

I live and work in the city centre and there at least two places in chinatown which are open until 2am ish weekdays and later at the weekend. Pearl City and Kwok Man. Both do decent food and have a large number of chinese people in eating at all times. Dim sum, road meats, tureens of soups plus the usual chinese staples.

The curry mile has lots of places open late night. Shisha bars, indian restaurants and other middle eastern places.

Anyone got decent late night places near them?

Not since I left manchester. Here in Dubai (alledgedly a 24hr city) it's 1-2am max.

Going back 15yrs now but there used to be a Thai place in chinatown which was effectively 24hrs and ran as a speakeasy type of place at night. You had to go knock on the back door and be eyeballed prior to being let in. Used to be full of bar staff in the wee hours post

VQ (Vingt-Quatre) always ticked the right boxes after late night partying - and more often than not the party would continue there (the Chelsea branch that is) - looking at the website i hadn't realised two others had opened.

Are we talking late night dirty food to soak up the booze

Or somewhere to have a proper, decent meal?

If the latter, isn't duck and waffle and sushi samba 24hours?

unfortunately I think you've already figured it out, Chinatown and the curry mile are the only places which open that late.

there is a gap in the market though I think

Everything you need to know here. 12 of the best late nights cafes and restaurants.

Bagel Bake on Brick Lane is 24 hour. Others close 2-5am.

It always seemed to me odd how little choice there is 24 hours in the UK for dining, here in Chisinau, there are countless normal restaurants that work non stop, Italian, Japanese, American, Fine Dining etc. They all serve the full menu also.

Believe me it's not just the UK. On a stag do in Barcelona recently and pretty much EVERYTHING closed at 10pm on Sunday.

I should add the problem with London is just how crap the trains and tubes are after midnight. Stay out after one and you'll either be walking home or spending a fortune a black cab. Which was a problem in my mid-twenties, much less so in mid-forties.

When I were a lad, I was a croupier - finishing work 0400 most mornings.
Many places; night clubs, bars, restaurants, etc. re-opened for us and others working similar hours. Many would close to joe public 'as usual', at midnight or whenever then re-open. Often cheaper prices too.
This was early eighties Bristol but I assume similar still goes on.

Steak and Cherry in Glasgow too, open 11am - 5am everyday (I think). Many a night i've sat in there at 0400 and had 3 courses - far too grown up for that now though.

I imagine most big casino's in big cities will be open late late for food? Won't be fine dining but i've ate some decent meals in casinos.

I really miss it. I used to live off roman Road down the other end by the market and it was a regular stop on the way home after a late session. One to eat then and one for breakfast...often got a free lift from a cabbie going home eastwards too!

One of the best things about them is they're open Christmas Day. I once did Christmas dinner for 4 mates when we all worked in retail and finished too late on Christmas Eve to go home to our families. I'd forgotten all about breakfast - they all came back to mine after work and slept over - then I remembered the Beigel Bake. A dozen smoked salmon and cream cheese sorted us right out!

I don't go there as much I used to. Worked in The City for about 5 years, that was a regular stop off. Didn't know about the Christmas day thing.
