Good restaurant in vicinity of Saddlers Wells Theatre?
Discussion
As per the title really. Got the mrs a show booked for Xmas at the saddlers wells theatre. It's a 19:30 start and thought it would be nice to have a meal of some sort beforehand. Looking online I'm taken by a couple of places but not sure if they are gonna be appropriate. Firstly, I've always wanted to take the missus up the oxo tower and it seems close by. Not sure what the lunch menu is like though. Secondly the crazy bear place looks quite interesting. But is it just a gimmick with naff food?
Mrs MM is a vegatarian also. I know, I know! It's a reall bugger to find decent veggie food anywhere though. She picky too. Doesn't like cheese, unlike most veggies doesn't do the well known vegetable that is fish. I am most certainly not veggie although it's her night so would happily tolerate a vegetable or two.
Any experience of the above? Or alternative recommendations? Budget is mid point I guess.

Ottolenghi does some fantastic vegetarian food. About 15 minutes' walk from Sadler's Wells.
Also check to see if anything on Exmouth Market grabs your fancy - literally a two minute walk to Sadler's.

Cheers for that. Yeah I'm looking at the Exmouth market places and it does look quite interesting. Presumably plenty to do before and after if we get there/finish nosebag early. Italian place has caught my eye https://www.paesan.kitchen/menu/
Shouldn't really search for restaurants when you are hungry eh.

The Gate is very close by and is vegetarian. Food is very imaginative and a far cry from the dull and unimaginative vegetarian food on offer at a lot of restaurants.
My wife isn't vegetarian, but loves eating at The Gate. So perhaps worth giving a go if you are open to it?
For somewhere catering to veg and non-veg options, Grain Store in Kings Cross is pretty good and only 1 stop on the tube. For Michelin places, Gauthier is very good for vegetarians, but quite a distance away.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have now booked the Gate as it looks like the sort of place where you can actually get some decent veggie food. Fingers crossed it goes down well.
I've heard good things about The Gate. If you have some time to kill and fancy a few drinks, then pop over to the Exmouth Arms (couple of minutes from Sadler's) and have a drink in 5CC. It's a 'hidden' bar above the pub accessed through a side door and it does some interesting drinks (and, more importantly, is generally much quieter because most people don't realise it's there!)Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
