2 ring recipes
Discussion
When I am working away from home I stay in a place with a 2 ring induction hob. There is also a microwave (which I don't use as I hate the things, but I'm happy to be re-educated!). There is a medium saucepan with a lid and a small frying pan. Very un-PH, I know, but I don't go out every night and eat red meat.
My compatible recipes are pretty limited. I can obviously do pasta with stir-fry or chicken/pepper/sauce; rice dishes; steak with rice or potatoes - including frying sliced boiled potatoes for a take on chips; fish; Asian broths etc.
What would you aim for? I'm aiming more at weekday evening meals for one rather than cooking for 2+ people. Pic of the set-up below:

That's a pain. I managed 18 months cooking for a family of 5 on 2 rings and a combi oven (plus slow cooker and BBQ...). Stews can be done in bulk, risotto is good, Nigel Slater has a stove top dauphinoise recipe.
The main issue ime is being slowed down so lots of meals take longer than they should.

Get a second saucepan and a lid and the world is your lobster. I very often use no more than 2 rings and 2 pans + frying pan. The kind of things available are:
Spag bol and variants.
Chilli CC and variants
Chicken and any number of sauces
Any number of stew type things
Stir fry
Things with couscous.
Meatballs with a variety of things
Risottos
Paellas
Omelette
That's without even thinking about it. With a micro you can make twice the amount, chuck it in the fridge and warm it up the next night or the one after, you have a micro.
I spend a lot of time camping and climbing, I've spent 30 years cooking with 2 pots and one stove in the middle of nowhere. I can do all the stuff above on one ring. The juggling to keep everything boiling is a chore but it's possible.

Sensible list, don't forget to make couscous you only need a bowl and kettle. Spag bol and variants.

my pet hate when Im in Singapore... when not out eating its 2 induction hob, I always end up with curry or cooking tiger prawns... if not that its salad and I cant be arsed to cook.
My major issue is that my local supermarket is for locals and not expats, so its sea cucumber and all that weird s
t.
I really should do a PH seafood contest with those sea cucumbers.
