Hi all

Can anyone recommend me a thermos flask/travel mug. Nearly everyone I have seen has a terrible review

Any recommendations out there?

Thanks
Nick

I've got an original 'thermos' flask - it keeps liquids hot for a few hours. Boiling water filled to the top will still be warm 10 hours later. If the flask is only half filled then expect it to cool down a lot quicker.
To make the flask keep liquids hot longer, you need to pre-warm the flask, then fill to top.

Another vote for an original Thermos. Mines out with me on a building site all day in temperatures from -2 to +3 and it's still warm at the end of the work day.

EDIT. Just checked and it's actually a Thermos work series model.

This exact one.....

I have the same make as well, problem is I find them an awkward shape (tall and thin) when filling from coffee machines - they wont fit under. Still have a stainless steel travel mug from starbucks with a clip close lid as opposed to those ones with the slider that are worse than useless, pretty much switched back to the old Starbucks mug.

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermos-Stainless-Steel-U...

May be a bit big (900ml) for you if you're considering a travel mug but it's the best flask I've had.

If any of your hobbies involve standing on railway station platforms photographing locomotives, I suspect this will be de rigueur.

I have a LifeVenture flask:

I got it because:
- It looks like an artillery shell
- It looks like the sort of thing the SAS might bring their hot chocolate in while on secret missions

Had it for years - works well and keeps things hot for a long time.
Sadly the current model has quite colourful text on the side.

Being the romantic I am, one of my wife's Xmas presents was one of these:

(Thermos Ultimate Series Flask 500ml)

Since then, much to her annoyance I've nicked it for fishing trips or working outside every time, it's great...

Contigo every time, except the smaller plastic ones. Key thing with a contigo is to never use boiling water else you'll be waiting hours before your drink is cool enough.

I had one of them, I took to the fishing. Excellent. Broke my heart when I dropped it and broke it into a million pieces.

One tip I have found is to fill the flask the night before with boiling water to pre heat it.
Then in the morning, pour the water from flask into kettle which makes the kettle boil quicker!

I've got an Avex travel mug, it's very good. I also have a Stanley stainless steel flask, I think it's something like 1.2L. It's good at keeping things warm , but does seem to leak a little from time to time.

The water will taste horrible if you do that.

Yep, something to do with the oxygen being boiled out. Experts say you need freshly boiled water for taste.
