PH Cooking Competition – Pie
Discussion
As winner of the last PH Cooking Competition (Curry) I have selected 'Pie' as the next Competition dish.
Seeing as we are not yet into spring and stodge is still craved and good stewing meats are in season, I have picked pie. For the sake of the competition dishes with a top crust will be classed as pies, controversial I know
Entries can be submitted from the 28th February until 13th March, the poll commencing on the 13th and will be for one week, Winner announced on Monday 20th.
As usual, entries can have multiple pictures (prep, cooking, etc.) and a short description with a single picture of the plated dish for voting.
Cheers,
Tickle

Panel Beater Pie, that is something I have never heard of, expand my knowledge with ingredients and cooking method please.
We've got until next weekend to put in an entry and I'm still doing research, Pukka and Higgedy have all been tested this week. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/10.gif

Looks good Cheddar
You either haven't eaten anything for 12 straight days or you forgot to pop your specs onI had one sheet of puff pastry, it disintegrated into tiny pieces when I pulled it out of the freezer so I was left with a patchwork of blobs that I had to weld together, hence panel beaters pie
Filling was left over bolognese and grated cheddar, looks like a car crash, tasted pretty good......

Well this has sprung up as a coincidence.
Annual getting older means one thing, my coveted Breakfast Pie for the office to devour, vegetarians need not apply.
Bacon, sausage, egg, black pudding and hash brown. All in a short crust coating, including obvious lettering and obligatory leaves (you've got to have leaves on a pie)
It was all gone in about 10 minutes.

That's a fine looking pie, I can see why the uptake was so swift.
Any condiments with that?
We have ketchup and brown sauce in the office so it was your choice. I had toyed with the idea of having beans or a sauce in it but there are a few people in the office who don't like beans/ketchup/brown sauce, so it was just sans sauce. Black pudding nearly didn't go in but I'm glad it did and I think the people who were not very keen on black pudding enjoyed it too.Any condiments with that?
I might have to experiment with the ingredients, as I think it could be even better, I just need to think what else could go in it. Thinking along the lines of fried egg, fried bread, toast, haggis, or maybe tomato.

Inspirational... You could chuck in any of your breakfast staples I suppose. Mushrooms & egg would certainly work. Salivating now.
Ah yes, mushrooms. (Deemed by some in the office to be the slimy work of Satan himself, heathens I say.) So they were left out. But yes any breakfast ingredient should work, although a couple of weetabix in the middle might not.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
