What's the difference between a gas BBQ & a gas grill?

Ordered a portable gas BBQ for camping, never had one before only ever used charcoal,
Anyway it arrived and it has 2 griddle plates with a gas ring underneath, no lava rock or stones.
Now to me this is a grill not a BBQ.
Surely the idea of barbecuing is the fat burns in the cooking process, either on the rocks or charcoal?

Did you read the description or investigate your purchase.?
Most gas Grills (USA) do not have lava rock, some have griddle plates. A BBQ is (UK) normally a brick based cooking, smoking, dripping process as you describe.
I suppose you got what you ordered.
