A glamorous lady is cooking me a prawn curry tomorrow night, as well as some appropriate interesting beers what else could I take to drink? Off dry white maybe?

How hot is the curry? If it’s a korma or dry tandoori try a fruity rosé, if it’s a Thai green curry, a pinot gris or a medium dry riesling may be the better pairing.

Alan Grignon Viognier 2008
£6.99, Majestic
Viognier works with ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger and even subtle cardamom. This is a classy, mildly aromatic white to match with lobster or prawn curries. A simple, pure, clean and fresh wine that doesn't overdo its aromatic credentials.

Ulmen Sauvignon Blanc 2012 Central Valley, Chile (Marks & Spencer, £5.99)
Good-value sauvignon with bright citrus and a sweeter hint of pear-drop that works with the prawn and sweet potato curry.
