Birthday: Chroma 301 P18 Hammered
Discussion
Specific I know. I've been after the above for a few years on and off. Set Mrs21 the task of finding me one in the next couple of weeks.
I did have a source on eBay last year but that's been and gone. The only Amazon sources are US based with no UK deliveries and since then a couple of German sources but not the P18.
Any UK suggestions?

Happy (belated) Birthday!
Knife looks great, even though it's not my style.
I've just got a new knife but I can't seem to find a "show us your knife" thread on here...
Is there one, or should we start it?
Start it ! Would be well worth doing. Knife looks great, even though it's not my style.

That looks a nice knife but I don't get on well with Japanese style knives, they are too light and the angle of the blade is not as good for point work say when quickly chopping herbs, onion, chili etc, they are too flat. They are very sharp however. I prefer my Wusthof.
See what I mean Wustoff v Global
I'm perhaps too bigly built to quote Donald T, including my hands, unlike him

So well worthwhile having a thread on show us your knives, everyone has their own favourites but experience matters here for people trying them out. If it is ok for BBQ's than more so for knives. They are one of the most important things ever.
First rule of knives, nobody has yet made a great bread knife ! . ...... one that cuts a really soft loaf with the slice perfect thickness

Excellent, they used those in Kill Bill didn't they ?Here are my top 4 knives at the moment...

From top to bottom:
Global GS-11 15cm flexible blade. I've got the serrated version as well. I find this a great all-purpose knife.
Tojiro Senkou 15cm Damascus steel, fairly weighty and nicely styled.
Shiro Kunimitsu 17cm Yasuki steel forged between layers of stainless steel. My new acquisition. Haven't used it much yet but I like the fact it's got little imperfections. Properly hand-made by Japanese sword makers!
Global 16cm Chef's knife - for the heavier stuff.

I was after the Chroma because its a bit of a hybrid, it is a Japanese blade but European designed handle which you can see in the pics below. Think half traditional chefs knife and half global. Note how wide the handle is.
Also, where a global is light (166g) the Chroma is 268g plus the blade itself is marginally thicker. Its far more comfortable for light butchery. Still wouldn't bone out a leg of pork with it but for joining chicken its a good tool.
Plus it's hammered which looks pretty.
