.... and I hate the 'thru' shortening but that seems to be the official name now.

Oh good, an excuse for cat funts to get catter and funtier from the leisure of their own Vauxhall Zafiras.

Just saw this article too. There's "customer convenience" and then there's just lazy!

The built in fire will keep their pies warm anyway.

I liked Greggs when homely women sold you pasties for 55p.

Now Eastern European Lesbians sell you "bakes" for double that they can get fked.

They are entering the drive "thru" market they should be judged against the McDonald's VFM yardstick, and they don't stack up.

Plus, anyone who likes to keep their car clean will know that you really shouldn't be eating most of Greggs products inside a car...think of the crumbs!

I'm not in favour of more interference and regulation but it should be made law that before entering the drive-thru (apologies) lane anyone should be made to watch that short bit of footage from the Greggs Pie documentary where they were making sausage rolls and various other baked products supposedly containing "meat." Particularly thinking of the scene where they were piping lines of pink slurry onto a conveyor belt of pastry for the sausage rolls. The delay might make the punters think twice if it held them up sufficiently and the grossness certainly should.

The downside of this news I can think of one chap whose ties and shirts will suffer from even more gravy stains from Gregg steak slices, so perhaps tie sales will take off.

I'm not a fan of Greggs, but surely you've just described all sausage roll production, rather than Greggs particularly?

Probably commercial operations, true. Unfortunately for you lot, though fortunately for me, I'm in the privileged position of having access, when allowed, which isn't nearly often enough in my opinion, to the sausage roll, pie and pasty production by Mrs FiF. I prepare the fillings, she does the pastry side, for which I don't have the touch, too heavy handed. My pies could have been in the running for use as an athletics discus, plenty of weight in the rim, lots of angular momentum provides more stability, rough finish lots of finger grip. hehe

Seriously though, knowing exactly what goes into the product does make for greater enjoyment. Haven't eaten a bought saus roll in a very long time.

I'm sorry FiF, I'm calling bullst on this one unless you deliver samples, just for research purposes of course, I'll send my address...

I wouldn't have thought the sausage rolls from Greggs would be any worse than any other commercial production at that price point at least.

The price point is pretty low admittedly.

The fancy yummy mummy deli attached to our butcher does sausage rolls from supposedly their prize winning sausage meat. Supposed to be pretty good, but individually they're three times the price of a couple of Greggs efforts. Except at the end of the day, when they're discounted as nobody has bought any because they're so bleeding expensive, then the schoolkids snaffle them at half price the little beggars.

So I 'm going to stick to doing shin beef, chicken, leek and ham hock, chicken and bacon, Cornish pasty style, veggie and pork sausage meat fillings for the good lady to encase in her brilliant shortcrust, none of that puff pastry horlicks, and pastry bottoms and tops, again none of that pot pie with just a lid twaddle. Though she does the bacon and egg pie without any help from me. Nearest you might get old fruit is a pic with a tin of custard in shot , if I remember, that is. Soz. Nom nom nom.

That's not a terribly high bar.

Price-for-weight, they're not much ahead of dog food.

If you are going on price-for-weight, it's no wonder people are avoiding salad.

True.

But dog food and Greggs are both ste meat with cereal-based fillers.

used to love greggs...over 10 years ago. Their chicken bake was tasty and they had a festive bake that was excellent every time christmas came round. had a festive bake afew years back and it was crap! I never bother with greggs anymore. the baguette sandwiches look tiny these days too, i used to always get the prawn salad baguette for school trips but now they look boring (not much salad inside).

The only thing that I like and probably go into greggs to buy once a year is a belgian bun.

Beats the current "waddle-thru" regular munters like me have to endure. Last time I was in my local greggs it was rammed, and there were only 3 people in it. Had to butter the door frames for them to slide out, was like watching an octopus squeeze out of a jam jar.
