My wife and I rarely get up to the smoke but have to be there for a couple of days in late September. Whenever we do go to London we try to eat at a decent restaurant and have in recent times been to Hibiscus, Pierre Koffmans at the Berkely and Le Gavroche which have all been excellent in their own ways.

I've just been doing a bit of research on the Michelin site and there is so much choice, stars are not necessarily important though. We mainly like French/English food but are pretty open minded and as this trip is on our company cost is not a major issue.

Any advice from the London experts on here would be appreciated.

The Greenhouse is very good - nice part of town, not corporate, excellent food.

I would highly recommend Gauthier in Soho, fantastic food and quite atmospheric setting in a converted town house or The Five Fields in Chelsea, fresh, often home grown and inventive dishes
