4 days in Paris next week for our anniversary.

Specifically looking for a recommendation close to Moulin Rouge, but all suggestion welcome.

Close to the Moulin Rouge?! Not much very nice around there, IIRC.

I can recommend the Café Marly, which has a covered terrace and overlooks the pymarid in the square at the Louvre.
(Had Harvey Keitel sat next to us last August!)

Is it all just a bit 'tourist' around there?

Had a brilliant steak here. Don't underestimate the boiled egg and mayo starter too. Strong mustardy mayonnaise is excellent.

OP,

Here are a few good suggestions from my friend in Paris.

He's a native Parisian and loves his food.

Enjoy.

I spent three weeks in Paris for work last year and was put up in a dreadful hotel a two minute walk from the Moulin Rouge. There are lots of dreadful restaurants there too, but once I found this place I went every night for at least a fortnight.

Small place with a tiny kitchen, but excellent food, well cooked, a short but decent wine list, and friendly staff.

No idea if its close to where you are however,

Someone on here recommended L'Orangerie to me and I went

28, Rue Saint - Louis En L'ile

Great food, setting and service.

Think it was user Doublesix that gave the recommendation

If you want something different try here:

http://www.lespapillesparis.fr/informations/

Very difficult to get a table and no choice of menu but just lovely
Its a bit of a Tripadvisor destination and so when we went the place was teeming with Yanks however was very typically French and good value for money.

This place does sensational steaks and is walkable from Moulin Rouge:

Id happily eat in either of the above in a heartbeat - neither totally stupidly priced either

Cheers

On my last trip to Paris I followed the reccomendations of Bulldong on this thread, I had dinner at Chez Gladines, L'Entrecote Relais de Venise and lunch at L'as Du Falafel. I would reccomend them all.
