Hi all. This is an odd one. I'm going to see a girl in Cardiff that i met through the internet that I like. We have spoken every day for two months.

I want a place for me to stay, good b&b or hotel and an interesting place to eat. I would love both places to be very good but unusual. Not something she already knows about. I'm looking for the new special places I suppose. Can anyone make suggestions? Even if it's tripadvisor I still want to hear thoughts on romantic places. Thanks in advance

I've just discovered she loves steak. Any secret amazing steak houses in Cardiff? She tells me St Marys street is the place to go, I want to prove her wrong!

The Ty Mawr in Lisvane has an amazing view of Cardiff (quite romantic), plus I've always had a nice meal there.

The Old Cottage again in Lisvane does has amazing food.

Best steak in town is Asador 44. Blue Honey night cafe is opposite in Sullys cafe and is a really fun place for a drink.

Hotel - Jolyons at no.10 is great.

There's also another 'quirky' bar round the corner from Asador 44/Blue Honey - The Bootlegger on Womanby Street.

Get tanked up and head to Charlestons on Caroline Street for a steak at 3am?

Some of my friends in Cardiff (I used to live there) like Miller & Carter. I'd avoid personally.

Hotel wise I'd look to stay in the centre. Plenty of choice - no need to go as far out as the Copthorne!

Go here

https://asador44.co.uk/

Went for the first time yesterday for a lunch with clients. Really good and a great wine list.

Great steaks. Quirky restaurant. Amazing cocktails to ensure whatever hotel you stay in isn't wasted...

If things go well take her for lunch the next day to Madame Fromage.

The potted pig is good for evening food too.

Awesome suggestions all thanks again. I'm asking a lot I know but does Cardiff have any lounge type bars with a little live music but not a full on gig so we can at least sit and chat after food

Other good bars include Ten Feet Tall (depending on the night is lounge downstairs, with music upstairs), Buffalo Bar (similar), and Small Bar/Tiny Rebel (more craft beer, but relaxed bars as well).

For food, Asador 44 looks decent (from what I've seen), Chapel 1877 is a great venue (not specifically steak), or for something else the Thai House is one of the best Thai places I've eaten in..

Charleston's is a very PH recommendation - you have to experience it at least one..maybe another time though!!
