Hi All,

My daughter is turning 18 and looking for somewhere a bit groovy with good food.

No strict budget but there are 5 of us so £150 a head including drinks would be good.

She did mention Tapas but doesn't really matter as she likes most cuisine.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Dicky

If she's into celeb spotting somewhere like Nobu may be an idea

Nobu as mentioned (Berkeley St has more of a buzz than the Old Park Lane branch), Zuma, The Ivy on West St (not the fairly average Ivy Cafes springing up everywhere), Barrafina for tapas but they don't take reservations and expect to queue, Scotts for a more grown-up atmosphere and some celeb spotting, and finally Kitty Fisher's in Shepherd's Market preferably preceded by a martini at Duke's Hotel down the road.

Those all come in at your budget unless you go mental with the wine list.

How about the Crazy Bear on Whitfield Street (off Goodge street)

10 course menu and cocktails would be around £90 per head. Music downstairs, good vibe, quite dressy and decent food plus I always seem able to park right outside.

I'd suggest either somewhere like Hakkasan which will be pretty cool for an 18 year old and feel night clubby, Fenchurch atop of the Wilkie Talkie (views superior to the Shard in my opinion but naturally subjective) or alternatively I would be looking for a chef's table.

The chef's table at Ramsey at the Savoy Grill is very good and right size wise and I'd say it has the wow factor for a really memorable meal.

You might have to go to 175 with a glass of champers plus wine and service but worth it in my view

Thanks for the suggestions.

Have booked Kitty Fishers. Tried to get in there for my son's 18th a couple of years ago but couldn't get a table.

Chef's Table at the Savoy was a good call but did that for the wife's 50th!
