My Anolon set is 15 years old now and has seen better days. Looking for a new set that is c.£250 ish.

Needs to be reasonably durable but also light if possible as found the Anolon really heavy.

Was looking at the Tefal range where the handles detach but gets some really bad reviews due to coatings coming off after a couple of years use.

You could do worse than the John Lewis own brand stuff. I've only had mine for a couple of years but still like new. Not the lightest though.

I was given some Circulon pans for Christmas a while back; they seem pretty decent.

+1 for circulon. Great pans, or they were when I last bought some about 13 years ago (they're still going strong)

For frying pans I use vogue professional aluminium non stick. Use, abuse, throw away every couple of years.

We have the Tefal Jamie Oliver pans. The non stick has come off so looking to replace them. The Le Creuset 3 ply stainless range gets good reviews and with 25% off at JL comes in under your budget. Not light but have a second handle to make things a bit easier

We have had the LeCreuset 3 ply for 10 years and they still look like new - one advantage of having no coating is that it can't fail.

Best pan purchase ever though has been the Le Creuset Marmitout which serves as pan, frying pan and casserole.

Why do most saucepans have metal handles? Our current pans do and it's almost impossible to pick them up after they have been on the hob for a while.

Damn, bought a set of these recently. Good pans and a good idea with the handle. Didn't know about the coatings failing. Will have to keep an eye on them.

The Le Creuset pans are good but would definitely (at least) double the budget to get a full set. We've got a couple and a cheap set we bought in a supermarket sale (morphy richards or Tefal). The Le Creuset ones are obviously nicer but the cheap ones are holding up well. I think the key is to not buy stuff with non stick coatings as that always seems to be the failing point.

I see your 9 and raise you 15! Quick soak in oven cleaner and they really do look like new even after nearly 1/4 of a century!

(Mrs aint too shabby either)

It generally means they're oven proof (but not always) - chuck a tea towel over your shoulder and use it when you pick them up.

Yup... see lots of chefs only touch pans with tea towels (or maybe there is a professional device) as its all metal and easy to transfer to oven.

WMF Function 4. Harder to get hold of in this country these days but the best I have ever come across.
