afternoon tea in London
Discussion
Have done a few in Harrods, one in the piano bar ("The Georgian" Perhaps?) for my grandparents wedding anniversary (they're very much not used to such fancy things so they loved it) and one of the lower floors just for tea and crumpets
Both were fantastic, the booked one in the piano bar was seemingly unlimited sandwiches and cakes and the tea is amazing

Mrs Harpoon had a ladies trip to London earlier this month and was very complimentary about afternoon tea at the Gilbert Scott. Excellent food and very good service I'm told (I was just on taxi duty).

The Bingham in Richmond.
Best view vs any of the London hotels, and none of the snobbishness. And it's a pleasant wander around Richmond before/after.

OH is a bit of a connoisseur of afternoon tea and in town, she'd go to the Mandarin Oriental. The Savoy is pretty good too (the one time I've been with her for afternoon tea - not really my thing).
She thinks a lot of the big names are overrated for this sort of thing (including/especially Claridges).
