Hello

I have a voucher for £50 at John Lewis. Is it possible to buy a single cup coffee maker at John Lewis for that? I have looked but without much success. Some of them are breathtakingly expensive

Looking at their website.

Do you want a traditional coffee maker(in which case it doesn't look like they any that cheap) or a pod machine, where you have a choice of three

I use an oven top Moka Epress. Divide the cup sizes by two if you want a decent size = eg 6 cup gives 3 good size espresso style.

I tend to use it most for americanos. So a third of the cup filled from the coffee pot topped up with two thirds boiling water.

You may need a hob ring reducer if you have a gas hob

Whilst it's not John Lewis, how about an Aerobie Aeropress? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aerobie-AeroPress-80R11-C...

Lots of good reviews and as long as you use some good beans (see - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... for starters)

Thanks,

I have a cheap (non PH approved) coffee maker that does a flask full, but once in a while fancy a single cup of proper coffee. So would like a machine that I can put in enough ground coffee in to make a mug full. Not sure if the more expensive ones would be the same, but my cheapo Tesco machine did taint the beverage for quite a while, it's fine now though. Also, I don't have a beard, any tattoos or ride a penny farthing.

I'd say buy something else you need from JL and get an aeropress as suggested above. Does everything you need and is cheap.

I found the Aeropress a huge chuff on for a single cup of coffee. Great if for example wanting a good cup away camping, on a boat or whatever - but at home on a regular basis ? Nope.
Especially if you want to make another cup at the same time for a friend etc.
OP wants a single cup coffee maker... the title isn't 'coffee maker for having friends round'. And an aero press takes a few mins, it's not complicated, in fact a key selling point is how simple it is.

Then ignore the second part of my Post and never ever consider making two cups of Coffee smile

I stand by my point that to make a singular cup of Coffee the Aeropress is a chuff on, and requires a lot of cleaning for a cup of Joe.
For two mugs I make coffee twice as strong in my Aeropress, decant half into a second mug, top up both with hot water. Coffee grounds are ejected straight into food recyling bin, quick rinse under tap and Robert's your mother's brother.
