How many Pizzas?

Im booking a wood fired pizza company to do some evening catering later this year.

The pizzas are being served from 8:30pm. Prior to that people would have eaten an afternoon tea around 5pm.

There will be approx 70-85 guests. How many pizzas would you pre-order?

Im thinking most people will be stuffed and potentially share a pizza between 2, but some people might have more than 1 pizza.

I've seen 7" ones being churned out & would have coped with a couple of them.

You can probably freeze any leftover ones and eat over the months, so over order a few?

We had a retro woodfired pizza van at our wedding as the evening drunk food.

We had about 100 people and ordered i think 75-80 pizzas, they only ended up making 65 from memory, however these were smaller, personal size 10-12"

Isn't there some kind of rough formula for catering at weddings/birthdays etc?

Pretty sure we were told to cater for 75% of the guests at our wedding in the evening.

Everybody seemed suitably stuffed, except me as it had all gone by the time I went up to have a look.

Not sure if you have option, but I'd say more smaller pizza's would be better if it's beer food.

I know when I crack the uuni out smaller, simpler pizza's go down better and quicker.

I am assuming people will go up to the oven where the caterers will be slicing pizza and putting it on a plate for people to wander off with?

In which case probably 2 or 3 slices per person would be about right I would have thought. Bit of a balance between some who will just have one and someone who will go back 3 or 4 times.

You could always have other food on standby that you can quickly knock up if you do run out/eat alongside I suppose? Salad, snacks and what not.

Sounds like it is going to be a good event, where is the invite for us?

If I'd eaten at 5, I'd probably eat one slice of a 16". Maybe two.

TBH I'd probably account for 10% of the pizzas eaten...
